Fall Makeup Trends: Vamp Sheek Meets 80′s Glam

With the air beginning to cool, teens are asking what are the latest trends for makeup this fall.

According to Sephora pro beauty team expert Adi Lando, he says this season’s look in makeup is about “good girl goes bad”; think of the ruby red lips and dark eyes of 40s film noir starlets, meets vampire chic, with a hint of 80s glam.

Eye Shadows and Liners
“This year we can expect a lot of sultry smoky shades. The smoky eye a bit more blended and we use candy colours. So gold on green, or blue on orange. Don’t be afraid to layer colour on,” Lando says.
“If you don’t want to layer colours, you can go with a cat eye as well. The cat eye is back this year.”
For the cat-eye look, layer different products in the same colour onto the eye.
“You start with an eyeliner and then use a cream eyeliner on top and then set it with a shadow of the same colour, like say in black. In blue you do the same thing. You then add a light shade on the rest of the eye to contrast the stark line,” he said.
Lips
Everywhere you look this season, the lip is very strong, very dark. “We see a lot of strong reds, not the orange red, but more burgundy reds. Very dark, almost goth.”
“A lot of women come and want the red lipstick but then when you look at it, they get scared off. Red is a strong pigment and you need to be ready for it. This fall has very strong colours.”
Tips:

Nail polish is also very dark and strong.
Skin is very clean and matte with a bit of glow around the eye. Brows are full and defined.
Lando does concede that the look is not for all women all the time. “This is for women who want to follow trends.”
“You can tone it down for daily wear, not everyone has to be that dramatic with the look. You can choose to go very dark on the lips and very light on the eyes. Or vice versa.”
“It’s makeup, be fun with it. There are no rules.”
